A space to explore
At Wood End Adventures, we offer children a safe and secure place to grow, play, explore, and learn in a natural and nurturing environment. Our forest nursery is designed to encourage children to connect with nature and develop a love for the outdoors whilst learning.
A space to explore
The fire circle is our main meeting space, where we start each morning, and where we meet to cook and eat together. We make a fire each day to keep us warm and to cook our food. The site includes a large vegetable garden where the children can nurture a range of vegetables which we harvest each day to include in our snacks and meals. There are a range of fruit trees and bushes for the children to discover. They can search for apples, pears, blueberries. peaches, plums, grapes and blackberries.

We have a large chicken coop where our hens live. The children help care for the chickens, and can also collect and cook the eggs.

There are a variety of spaces to play and explore, including the ponds, where we can search for pondlife and learn about the different creatures we see. There are trees to climb, bug houses to explore, hammocks to relax in, and paths between the trees leading to a variety of spaces to discover.

The site is filled with beautiful wildlife, from squirrels and birds, to newts and snails.

Our tool box includes vegetable peelers, loppers, bow saws and secateurs. The children learn how to safely use each of the tools, as well as what we can use them for.

The snug is warm and cosy and offers a great space to go inside, to dry off and warm up by the log burner. There are a range of natural resources for the children to enjoy while in the snug.

A ten minute walk from our main site, is Kempston Wood Park- a five thousand acre mature woodland. This is a space for us to visit and explore- to discover more wildlife, as well as to build dens, and observe how the seasons change the world around us.
Learning & Activities
We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage framework to track the learning and development of the children. All of the children's learning is incorporated in to their outdoor activities, where they develop physical skills, build social skills, enhance communication and language, as well as being creative, developing an understanding of phonics and numbers, and learning about the world around them.
Daily activities at Wood End Adventures are led by the children. The Forest school programme is designed to enable the children to follow their interests and to develop confidence, resilience and problem solving skills. They will learn all about the environment, following the Forest School principles. There are rules around certain aspects of our day, which the children will learn. Within these boundaries they are then free to explore and learn at their own pace.

Each day we have opportunities to create crafts, mark make, read stories, and make long lasting memories.
Healthy Habits
Days filled with adventures start with a full tummy. At Wood End Adventures, we have a delicious selection of fruit and vegetables growing on site. Our daily snacks and meals keep little tummies full and happy.
We believe that good nutrition is an important part of a healthy lifestyle. We provide children with wholesome, nutritious snacks and meals that are made from our fresh vegetables or locally sourced ingredients.
Our snacks and meals are designed to be both delicious and healthy, and we encourage children to try new foods and explore the flavors of the vegetables they have helped to grow and harvest.
